This Alice in Wonderland themed cake is a great addition to any tea party and can be personalised with the guests name. The cake is made up of a sponge cake that is decorated in pastel shades and topped with a blue fondant flower.

Grease and flour one 9×13 inch baking pan. Sift together the sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, butter and milk; whisk together until well mixed. Spoon the batter into the prepared baking pan; bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.

Use a round fluted cookie cutter to cut out the cupcakes, you may need heart or playing card shape cutters.

Decorate the cupcakes with a fondant icing in red, black and white and a little bit of jam on each. Alternatively, you could just decorate the cupcakes with a fondant flower and a couple of small dots of buttercream.
